Patna, Nov 10 (IANS) Amid voting for the second and final phase of assembly elections in Bihar, RJD MP Manoj Jha on Monday expressed full confidence in the victory of the Grand Alliance and claimed that the alliance will definitely win about two-thirds of the total seats in the state.

Speaking to IANS, Manoj Jha said, “The first phase is over, and the campaign for the second phase has also ended. The most remarkable thing is that Bihar has not deviated from its stance. The pitch that Tejashwi set in 2020 has matured in character over these five years and has become deeply rooted in the minds of people. It was about employment, a responsive government and social security – issues that provided relief and hope to people.”

“I am confident that we will win two-thirds of the seats in the first phase, and we will win even more seats in the second phase. Bihar has voted for change, and when the results are declared on November 14, you will hear it echoing across the state,” he said.

Asked about the functioning of electronic voting machines (EVMs), Jha said, “I am not as familiar with the internal systems of the machines as Amit Shah is. The machines – or those who control them – are not under my control. However, based on the people’s mandate, I can say with confidence that we will definitely win with a two-thirds majority.”

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the second phase of Bihar Assembly elections, in which 122 constituencies across 20 districts will go to polls on Tuesday. In the first phase, voting was held on 121 seats in 18 districts. A total of 1,302 candidates, including 136 women (about 10 percent), are contesting in the second phase. Voting will take place across 45,399 polling stations, with 3.70 crore registered voters – 1.95 crore men and 1.74 crore women – expected to cast their votes.

Responding to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent comments, Jha criticized the unregistered status of the organisation.

Bhagwat had said that Hindus are “responsible for India”, and stressed that the goal of the RSS was to organize Hindu society for the glory of the nation, not for political power.

Responding to this, Jha said, “What are they saying? I would first ask them to officially register the organization, because it remains unregistered even after a century. This raises suspicion.”

Bhagwat made his remarks while addressing a lecture titled “100 Years of Sangh Yatra: New Horizons” on Saturday. The event was attended by RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and many prominent personalities from various fields.

During his address, Bhagwat said, “When an organized force like the RSS stands up, it does not seek power or prominence in the society. Its aim is only to serve and organize the society for the glory of Mother India. For a long time, people found it difficult to believe, but now they do.”

He further said that it is the responsibility of Hindus to safeguard the identity of India.

Bhagwat said, “It is not that the British gave us nationality; we are an ancient civilization. Every nation has its own native culture, and the native culture of India, whatever we call it, leads to the word Hindu.”
