like the opening of advent calendar doorsUnwrapping A’s plastic film Christmas The supermarket sandwich has become a festive tradition, and I look forward to it with great anticipation. Every year, supermarkets try to one-up each other with unique flavors and festive treats – think pigs in blanket rolls, prawn cocktail subs and even the best pieces of roast wrapped in Yorkshire pudding (head to Tesco for that). Some have even released seasonal sides to round out the festive food deal, but this time, we’re all about the main event: the best Christmas sandwiches, wraps and rolls.
I broke eight tables Supermarket Cabinets to find the best. But I didn’t leave it at just my personal taste – I also enlisted the IndieBest team, who turned on their taste buds to help me find the best festive sarees.
We looked for delicious bread that played a role in the experience rather than serving as a wrapper. Of course, the fillings also had to impress, with balanced flavour, quality ingredients and good quantity (stuffed with spinach leaves or carrot peels had a low score). And while the imaginative takes were enjoyable, leftovers done correctly in classic turkey or Boxing Day style were also given points.
The best Christmas sandwiches for 2025 are:

- best seafood – Aldi Specially Selected Seafood Cocktail Sandwich: £2.75, aldi.co.uk
- best vegetarian – Waitrose Christmas Vegetable Festive Feast Sandwich: £3.75, waitrose.com
- best cover – Asda Magical Three Little Piggies Half and Half Wrap: £2.88, asda.com
How we tested

When evaluating each sandwich, taste and texture came first: We looked for a satisfying meal that had interesting flavors, was enjoyable on the palate, and wasn’t soggy from excess mayo – or, conversely, dry. I paid close attention to the bread, noting how well it matched the filling. Packaging also matters, with convenient containers and low-plastic options, like cardboard sleeves or boxes, earning extra points. Finally, with Meal-deal prices are rising (with the $3 Tesco Clubcard deal now a distant memory), I assessed the cost of each sandwich myself, focusing on true value for money, just like every IndieBest review.
