We have support from 225 MLAs: Ajit Pawar on opposition demand to dissolve Maharashtra govt

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said the state government’s 288-member assembly came as the opposition demanded the dismissal of the Eknath Shinde-led government over law and order issues. It has the support of 225 MLAs in Parliament.

Addressing an event in Mumbai on Saturday where Congress leader Baba Siddique joined his Nationalist Congress party, Pawar said that in the aftermath of the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, the then Congress-led alliance was Harashtra came to power and made no such demands.

“The opposition today demanded the dissolution of the government. Our Mahayuti (BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance) has the support of 225 MLAs,” he said.

“Some people are trying to create an atmosphere of fear fearing breakdown of law and order in the state… No such demand was made when the 26/11 terror attacks took place,” Pawar said.

However, he also said he was not defending or justifying the recent violence, which has seen the opposition target the government.

Earlier on Saturday, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray sought sacking of the government after party leader Abhishek Ghosalkar on Thursday murder in Borivali area of ​​Mumbai and an incident earlier this month in Thane district where BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad is based.
