How we test
We opened five bottles of supermarket champagne and expert-recommended sparkling wine alternatives. These include bottles from M&S, Tesco, Aldi and Co-op. Every glass of sparkling wine is blind taste tested so we are not influenced by price or label. When each product was rated, one supermarket’s champagne came out on top.

The Co-op’s Champagne is the only supermarket wine to win the 2025 IWSC (International Wine & Spirits Competition) trophy, and the proof is in the pour. Our testers loved its nutty, dry flavor and complex depth of flavor.
