Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is leading an all-party delegation in the United States, said during a conversation at the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC on Thursday that the presence of Mahatma Gandhi among the capitals across the world shows India’s identity as a country of non-violence, and he said that he shares India’s position in many meetings in India.
Speaking in the conversation, Tharoor said, “Symbolically, I would say that we have gone everywhere, we are paying tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The striking is that there is no capital where there is no movement of Mahatma Gandhi. It reminds the world that we want it. Mahatma Gandhi taught us not to be afraid, and we will not be afraid… and we will not be afraid… and we will not be afraid……
Tharoor insisted that when the Indian delegation did not seek a formal Senate resolution during his visit to Capital Hill, the primary goal was to interact with those people to communicate and present India’s approach.
“What was interesting in all three sets of conversation, we received a lot of positive response from all the attendees … this cross, we do not have a single doubt or negative voice. On the contrary, we got very positive reactions. I will use the two major lines I would use. I fully understand myself to fulfill my fight against total support and solidarity and terrorism.
Considering the Pahalgam terror attack, Tharoor underlined that India does not work on estimates. “India does not go to war on suppression and hypotheses. Our intelligence agencies have identified at least four (Pahalgam attack) of five criminals, and they know their identity. They also have pictures because some of these people are involved in other events.”
During the conversation, he said, “He has confirmed us that there are two Pakistan and two others who have reached Pakistan from Indian Kashmir 10 years ago, and they have returned for this purpose and have returned again. We have all this information, and we take a big step to work very seriously.”
On the situation of India about talks with Pakistan, Tharoor said, “We cannot talk to those who are pointing to a gun on our head. As long as Pakistan is not a serious effort to destroy the infrastructure of terrorism, they cannot do to arrest their training camps. Pakistan speaks practically in every language.
Tharoor also mentioned that on the way to Guyana, the delegation stayed in New York to visit the 9/11 memorial. He said, “We showed our solidarity with the victims of terrorism everywhere, as you know, many, many nationalities lost people in that 9/11 attack,” he said.
Earlier today, Tharoor held a high-level conversation as part of his diplomatic outreach after Operation Sindoor with the US House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) at Washington, DC.
