Kalburgi (Karnataka), 30 September (IANS) Karnataka BJP President and Vijayendra said that the state unit of the party is not against the caste census, but is against the politics played by the Siddaramaiah-led government on this issue.
Speaking to reporters in Kalaburagi on Tuesday, he said, which is about the controversial socio-economic and academic survey known as a caste census.
She is playing chess game in the name of caste census, using the caste census on the state government as a political equipment. They are trying to divide Hindu society. Does the state government also have the right for this? ,
“We are not opposing caste census, but there is confusion about CM’s intentions. Is Siddaramaiah operated it for real social justice for backward and oppressed communities, or to cook their own political rice?” He questioned.
He said, “There is no real concern in his perspective – and this has suspected the public.”
Responding to a question about caste census, Vijayendra said, “The Chief Minister wrapped against the BJP yesterday. He asked if we are also opposing the caste survey of the central government. Did you not spend 180 crores on the Kantharaj report? Why did you not implement it when you were the Chief Minister?” He questioned.
He clarified, “Today, spending Rs 500-600 crore in the survey is not something that BJP is opposing. But since independence, any Congress or UPA government has not taken such adventure decisions about caste census. Even though Manmohan Singh decided on it, Rahul Gandhi opposed it.
In response to another question, he said, “BJP is clearly committed to providing social, educational and economic justice to backward and oppressed communities. This confusion is being created by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, not BJP. We oppose Sidaramaiah’s mindset,” he said.
He further asked, “What has the High Court said? Why are you putting questions that do not serve any purpose? There are more than 60 questions, and not all of them are mandatory,” he said citing the High Court.
“First of all, give compensation to the family of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, as well as respond to the farmers crisis.”
“When a farmer says that his crop is destroyed and demands compensation for 4 acres of pigeon peas, Mallikrajun Kharge says – even I have 40 acres of land and my crops have been completely destroyed; I have not received any compensation,” Vijayendra slammed.
He criticized the statement and stated, “As per the guidelines of NDRF (National Disaster Response Fund), compensation for Drawland is Rs 6,000 per hectare. But when BS Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minister-a farmer leader-he visited all the districts and provided NDRF-model relief from the funds of the state.”
He said, “I am not saying that Siddaramaiah does not care about the farmers. But this concern should be seen.” In response to a question, he asked, “If you do not show concern for the farmers who are in serious condition now, when will you do?”
He further said that compensation of Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 per acre should be given.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and MP Govind Karjol said, “We are not going to create confusion on caste census; this is the Congress-led government and the Congress high command that are doing so.”
“Are Christian Lingayats? Are Jains Panchamasalis? Are Christian Dalits?” Karjol questioned.
He further clarified in response to another question: “Do not refer to anyone as Christian Dalits. When a person turns into each other religion, from the day of conversion, they are no longer entitled to the privileges or associations of their previous religion. The relationship with their past (pre-discipline) status is different.”
“If someone turns into Christianity, they become Christians; if for Islam, they belong to Islam,” he said.
He further said, “If there was a real concern for economic or educational welfare, Sidarayaiya, who was the Chief Minister from 2013 to 2018, should have acted. He appointed Kantraj and received a report and spent Rs 180 crore on it. What happened to that report? It was thrown into the dustbin,” he criticized.
“We are not misleading anyone. This is Siddaramaiah and Congress party who are misleading people,” he alleged.
“They first released numerical data of castes. Why did they not keep the data confidential when they should have been kept secret?” He questioned.
