Kolkata, Nov 16 (IANS) West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has released the list of candidates selected for interview who appeared in the State Level Selection Test (SLST) examination held in September.

The list of candidates selected for interview for teaching jobs for classes 11 and 12 was published late on Saturday night.

According to WBSSC sources, more than 20,000 job seekers have been called for interviews. The process of verification of their documents will start from November 18.

State Education Minister Bratya Basu thanked WBSSC for its efforts in completing the recruitment process as per the orders of the Supreme Court. He also asked eligible job seekers who were not called for interviews to remain confident.

“West Bengal Kendriya Vidyalaya Service Commission today published on its website a preliminary list of interview-eligible candidates along with detailed information of candidates applying for the posts of Class XI-XII teachers,” the minister said in a post on Twitter.

He told that the recruitment process will be completed by December.

The Education Minister said, “The document verification process of the said candidates is going to officially begin from November 18, 2025 – which is another shining example of our commitment to complete the recruitment process by December in a transparent, robust and responsible manner. Therefore, our sincere message to the job seekers is – have faith, have faith.” However, the list of candidates to be called for interview for classes 9 and 10 will be announced later.

In September, SSC conducted the State Level Selection Test (SLST) in two rounds to recruit teachers for classes 9 to 12.

The SLST was conducted after nine years to fill 35,726 teaching posts for classes 9-10 and 11-12. Of these vacancies, 23,212 posts are for classes 9 and 10, and 12,514 posts are for classes 11 and 12.

The fresh exam is being conducted in the backdrop of the teacher recruitment scam that has rocked West Bengal politics for the past few years.

The Supreme Court on April 3 canceled the appointments of around 26,000 teachers and non-teaching staff who were recruited after the 2016 selection process.

The new examinations were conducted following the Supreme Court order, which had barred tainted and ineligible candidates from the previous panel (2016) from appearing in the new examination.
