Chinese tech giant Millet has shared the interior of its first electric car, the SU7, which is scheduled to be launched later this year.

While the exterior design was revealed in December, the interior remains a mystery. The company is moving away from the minimalist interiors favored by other automakers in favor of driver-focused designs with buttons that seamlessly integrate with modern technology.

This transition is much more user-friendly and functional than a large, confusing touchscreen console. Four buttons are strategically placed under the driver’s right hand for easy control of basic functions.

In addition to the start/stop button on top, four other switches control key functions such as temperature, fan intensity, electric spoiler and air suspension. Xiaomi Motors claims buttons are the most natural way of human-machine interaction and can establish emotional connections, China Automotive News reported. Adding switches ensures these controls can be operated without looking, providing a safe experience for drivers.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi SU7 has a simple design with a two-tone interior scheme and a spacious panoramic sunroof. The vehicle interior also has other key features, such as a large display that provides vehicle information, navigation and entertainment systems, and can also connect to the user’s mobile phone. Right below the screen is a wireless charging area that supports 55W fast charging. Additionally, cup holders complement the design.

The interior features a vaulted roof that lines up well with the position of the driver and passenger seats. This design provides passengers with ample headroom and a spacious and light-filled cabin. The steering wheel itself comes with a soft cover and a large Xiaomi logo in the middle. Interestingly, the SU7 provides rear-seat passengers with two independent screens, separate from the front touchscreen, for their personal entertainment.

According to Autohome, the sports seats of Xiaomi SU7 are designed to fit the natural curves of the human body and provide excellent support for passengers. The innovative seat cushion uses 3D Mesh mesh in the upper layer and 15mm memory foam in the middle layer to provide comfort and softness for short-distance riding.

The lower layer is made of PU material, known for its durability and perfect for long journeys. Overall, the layout and features are designed to enhance the driving experience, providing comfort and aesthetics for both passengers and driver.

Although the price and delivery date have not yet been announced, the Xiaomi SU7 is expected to be one of the main models at the Beijing Auto Show in April.
