It warned that drinking bottled water could cause harm and was unsafe to drink and urged customers not to drink the water.

The No1 Deeside range of mineral and sparkling water has been recalled, with Waitrose asking customers to return bottles to their nearest store for a refund.

“Due to potential glass contamination, we are recalling the above product line,” the recall notice reads. It also advises buyers not to drink the water but to package and return it to the store.

An FSA notice read: “Waitrose is recalling Waitrose No1 Deeside Mineral Water and Waitrose No1 Deeside Sparkling Water due to the possibility of glass fragments being present when the bottles are opened.”

“This product may contain glass, which may cause harm and is not safe to drink.

“If you purchased any of the above products, do not drink it. Instead, return it to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.”
