New Delhi, October 1 (IANS) BJP IT Cell chief, Amit Malviya, a scary attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, called his recent campaign a political stunt in Bihar, claiming that the Congress Party’s “Vote Chor Katri is a sham”.
His comment was published soon after the Election Commission announced the completion of the special intensive amendment (SIR) of the election role in Bihar and the final list published, including 7.42 crore voters.
Taking the social media platform X, Malavia wrote in a post: “As the Election Commission ends the practice in Bihar and the final voter publishes the role, note this – the Congress party has not filed a single complaint or objection, in the prescribed format, either for inclusion or deletion.”
Malavia said, “It highlights Rahul Gandhi’s disorganized politics,” alleging that Gandhi’s journey was not about defending democratic rights, but was about “molding illegal migrants” and reducing national security.
“This so-called ‘vote theft’ story is nothing but a sham-an excuse to be defeated and reduce India’s trust in the Democratic process. A page directly from George Soros’s playbook, which Rahul Gandhi considers foolish that he can revive his innocent party,” he said.
Malavia’s comment was a direct response to the Congress’ campaign against the voter list amendment. In August, Rahul Gandhi conducted a 1,300 km “Voter Adhikar Yatra” in 20 districts in Bihar, accusing the Election Commission of practicing a biased and opaque modification.
The Congress alleged that millions of names, mostly from poor, backward and minority communities, were wrongly removed from the rolls.
On Tuesday, the Election Commission declared a successful conclusion of the SIR process. According to official data, till June 24, 7.89 crore was in the voter list.
After the initial amendment, on 1 August, the draft list showed a decrease of 7.24 crores with more than 65 million deletion. After claims and objections, the final role saw 21.53 lakh additions and 3.66 lakhs further deletion, which settled the number on 7.42 crore voters.
The Commission thanked the people of Bihar for participating in describing as a broad and transparent practice.
