Six Republican MPs have sent a letter to the Canadian ambassador, calling for action on the wildfire, they say they have sent a smoking bill to the international border in their states.
In a Tuesday letter to the ambassador, US Kirsten Hillman, Reps. Tom Tiffany, Brad Finstad, Tom Emper, Michel Fishback, Glenn Grotaman and Pete Stubber of Wisconsin and Minnesota say their constituents turn smoke from Canadian wildfires.
MPs say that the gradual years of wildfire in Canada have reduced the quality of air in their states and looted their ability to enjoy summer for Americans.
He pointed to forest management and arson as potential factors behind the fire, but did not mention climate change.
The MPs urged the Hillman to relay their concerns for Ottawa, especially for natural resources Canada and Canadian forest service.
MPs said that with current technology, this “worrying trend” could be reversed.
