Royal Challengers Bangalore star batsman Virat Kohli achieved something huge in T20 cricket on Friday. He became the first Indian batsman to score 12,000 runs in T20 history. Kohli reached this milestone during RCB’s IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. With this, Kohli joins the likes of Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard in the elite list. West Indies’ T20 legend Gayle tops the list with 14,562 T20 runs, while Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik is second with 13,360 runs. Star all-rounder Pollard from West Indies is third with 12,900 points and England’s Alex Hales is fourth with 12,319 points. Then there is David Warner (12065 runs), followed closely by Kohli. The Indian star achieved the feat in his 377th T20 match and 360th innings.
Virat Kohli is in a good mood after just taking a break. The player skipped India’s five-match Test series against England ahead of IPL 2024. Kohli missed the entire series as he welcomed his second child in February this year.
RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat, who has been keeping a close eye on Kohli during training sessions, revealed that the great batsman batted extremely well.
