The Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore contest in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Thursday had Virat Kohli written all over it. From scoring a match-winning 92 off 47 balls to creating fireworks on the field with spectacular catches and run-outs, Kohli was all game. As emotionally charged as Virat is, the RCB legend also made sure to give it back to PBKS batsman Riley Rossouw after his dismissal in the match. Kohli’s way of celebrating South Africa’s wicket was quite unique, as he decided to do so in the same style while giving a rousing farewell to his opponent.

Rossouw, who had earlier performed a ‘gun celebration’ on the field, was given back to Kohli, who also decided to send off the PBKS star in his own way. Here are the videos and posts:

Although Virat had no active role in dismissing Rossouw, he made sure he joined in the celebrations with a farewell mid-match.

Due to the win, Royal Challengers remained in the playoff race while Kings were eliminated.

The 35-year-old Kohli rode his luck and stitched two crucial partnerships with Rajat Patidar (55) and Cameron Green (46) as Bengaluru posted a massive total of 241-7 at the Dharamshala Stadium.

Punjab suffered the brunt of some poor fielding as they dropped Kohli twice for 0 and 10 off the bowling of debutant fast bowler Vidwath Kawerappa.

Punjab suffered their eighth defeat in 12 matches and were eliminated from the competition.

Kohli said that his aim is always to improve his game.

“I brought the slog-sweep for the spinners. I know I can hit it as I have before,” he said.

“I know I need to take risks. There needs to be more conviction and let go of this thought of ‘What if I fall out?’ This means I can improve my strike rate in the middle overs.”
