Patna, Oct 21 (IANS) Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) national president Mukesh Sahni on Tuesday said his party has not given ticket to any Muslim candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, adding that the party has not found any suitable Muslim face to contest the elections.
Sahni said on Tuesday, “VIP is contesting on 15 seats this time and we have not fielded any Muslim candidate. We tried to take everyone along, but since we did not find a suitable candidate from the Muslim community, we did not give them the ticket.”
However, he also said that people of all religions and castes are supporting the party and he is confident that the Grand Alliance government will be formed in Bihar.
Sahni made this comment while attending the inauguration ceremony of the party’s new office in Darbhanga.
Addressing the workers and supporters during the program, he urged them to ensure the victory of the Grand Alliance in all the 10 assembly constituencies of Darbhanga district and said that a wave of change has spread in the entire Darbhanga.
The VIP chief said, “This time people will vote on development issues.”
Responding to the news of VIP candidate joining BJP from Tarapur assembly constituency, Sahni rejected these speculations outright.
He clarified that the person concerned had filed his nomination papers not on VIP election symbol, but as an independent candidate.
Addressing the news of two Grand Alliance candidates contesting from Gaura Bauram assembly constituency, Mukesh Sahni clarified that VIP candidate Santosh Sahni is officially contesting as a Grand Alliance candidate.
He said, “Santosh Sahni is contesting the elections from the Grand Alliance. A letter to this effect has been issued from the RJD office on behalf of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav.”
Sahni said, “Talks are going on with RJD and the matter will be resolved soon through mutual understanding.”
Afzal Ali Khan is also contesting from Gaura Bauram seat of Darbhanga district on RJD ticket.
