Vikrant Massey says Boman Irani’s character ‘Virus’ in ‘3 Idiots’ was inspired by Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Vikrant Massey has a joyful smile on his face. The actor welcomed a baby boy with wife Sheetal Massey earlier this month after the surprising success of 12th Fail. Vikrant Massey received critical acclaim for his performance in the film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Now, in a recent conversation with Unfiltered By Samdish, Vikrant opened up about his directorship. The actor who is all praises for Vidhu Vinod Chopra claims that the filmmaker’s life is like Viru Sahastra Buddhe, Boman Irani’s character in the film 3 Idiots Same.

Clarifying his statement, Vikrant Massey said, “Vidhu Vinod Chopra is very passionate and even today he works 16 hours a day. Even if he goes to bed at 2 am, he gets up at 7 am and goes for a walk. He walks faster than I’m fast. The food you eat at his house is delicious. He has a five-star chef at his house.”

Talking about the similar habits shown in his character with Boman Israeli, Vikrant Massey added: “As far as I know, in the last 30 years , Vidhu Vinod Chopra has to take a nap. Recently, he started listening to a 28-minute podcast that follows his circadian rhythm no matter where he is.”

As Vikrant Massey goes further, the actor seems convinced that Boman Irani’s character in 3 Idiots was inspired by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Vikrant says, “Viru Sahastra Buddhe is inspired by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Just like Virus used to lie down and shave his beard, this is Vidhu Vinod Chopra.” FYI: 3 Idiots stars Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi and is directed by Rajkumar Hirani with Vidhu supporting Vinod Chopra.

Back to “12th Fail” which was released on October 27 last year. The film has been loved and appreciated by fans and critics alike. Earlier this month, Boman Irani penned a thorough and honest note dedicated to Vikrant Massey and his stellar performance in the film. The “3 Idiots” star shared a post on Instagram that included a screenshot of the note. An excerpt from the note reads: “You’re right, Macy… The truth is that the real preparation happens inside the character’s soul… You can’t rehearse for it, can you? You can only achieve it through a belief that That belief goes way beyond the tremendous external preparation you do for the role. You don’t have to do it for the camera. You have to be in front of the camera…”

Sharing the note, Boman Irani wrote, “I know you heard it before Vikrant Massey. It won’t hurt to do it again. “

Failure 12 is a film depicting the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma in cinematic form, starring Vikrant Massey in the lead role. Apart from Vikrant Massey, the film also stars Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
