Vikram Misri advocates for the initial event of Indo-US strategic trade dialogue

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Under Secretary Jeffrey Caller on Wednesday and discussed furthering India-US cooperation in important and emerging technologies.

The two officials also discussed the initial event of Indo-US strategic trade dialogue to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in technology and business sectors.

Sharing a post on X, the Indian Embassy in Washington wrote, “Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Under Secretary Jeffrey Caller to carry forward India-US cooperation in important and emerging technologies. He also discussed the initial event of Indo-American strategic trade dialogue to deepen technology and trade cooperation.”

Misri is currently in the United States for a three -day visit from 27 May to 29 May, during which he will meet with senior administration officials to discuss major areas of bilateral cooperation.

According to the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs, Misri’s Washington DC’s visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to America in February this year, when both nations launched the India-US compact (catalyled opportunity for military partnership, quick commerce and technology) for the 21st century.

The MEA said, “Foreign Secretary Shri Vikram Misri will visit Washington, DC, USA from 27-29 May 2025 to meet senior officials of the US Administration. The yatra is a follow-up for the Prime Minister’s visit in the United States in February 2025 when both sides launched 21st opportunities (Catalicing opportunities) for military partnerships.”

India and the United States extended their relations during PM Modi’s two -day visit with a series of initiatives in many fields.

US President Donald Trump and PM Modi launched a new initiative for the 21st century -‘S -India compact -to run transformational changes in major pillars of cooperation.

This was PM Modi’s first visit to America since the inauguration of his second presidential post by President Donald Trump in January. PM Modi is one of the first few world leaders to visit the United States after Trump’s inauguration and was invited to visit the US within three weeks of the new administration. (AI)
