Bhopal, Nov 2 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday unveiled a grand theatrical performance celebrating Emperor Vikramaditya, blending ancient heritage with modern cultural revival under the banner of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ethos of “development bhi, virasat bhi” – development along with heritage.
In a thunderous announcement from the “City of Lakes” Bhopal, Chief Minister Yadav said that “Samrat Vikramaditya Mahanatya”, a majestic presentation, will enthrall the audiences at the historic Red Parade Ground on November 2 and 3, 2025, starting at 6:30 pm.
“The events of ‘Samarat Vikramaditya Mahanritya’ will be brought to life in Sinhasan Battisi,” the Chief Minister posted on Instagram, extending a heartfelt invitation to all Bhopalites to immerse themselves in the immortal story of bravery, shrewd policy and steadfast justice.
This homecoming display celebrates Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day with pomp and show, depicting 32 divine apsaras on the throne of the mythological king.
Earlier, addressing a press conference in Bhopal in the presence of RSS-affiliated Sanskar Bharti stalwarts, Chief Minister Yadav stressed the role of the event in reviving India’s glorious past.
He announced, “To present the glorious history before the people, this grand drama – focused on Emperor Vikramaditya, who created a governance paradigm rooted in exemplary administration two millennia ago – will come live at the Lal Parade Maidan.”
Around 250 artistes belonging to different professions yet united in spirit will enliven the stage with vibrant tableaux.
Elephants, horses and ornate palanquins “in procession” will add to the spectacle, and highlight the richness of the bygone era.
Describing PM Modi’s guiding principles as ideal, Chief Minister Yadav stressed that legacy should move forward along with progress.
“We are establishing our legacy within development,” he affirmed, presenting Mahanatya not just as entertainment but as a cultural call to action.
As the curtain rises, Vikramaditya’s legacy promises to enthrall thousands, spanning the ages in a symphony of dance, drama and devotion.
Earlier this year, a grand performance of Samrat Vikramaditya Mahanatya was staged on the majestic ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi, clearly honoring Emperor Vikramaditya’s enduring qualities of fairness, bravery and dedication to the well-being of the people.
Accomplishing this, the vibrant showcase of Madhya Pradesh Tourism highlighted the timeless treasures, natural wonders and sacred sites of the region.
In ancient Ujjain, the wise and brave emperor Vikramaditya ascends the famous throne Battisi – a throne guarded by 32 divine apsaras, each of whom symbolizes a virtue.
To claim his rightful rule, Vikramaditya must overcome his riddles and trials, fighting demons, treacherous courtiers, and dark sorcerers.
Through courage, justice, and shrewd policy, he restores righteousness, unites the kingdoms, and establishes his legacy as a symbol of righteous rule.
