Prime Minister Narendra Modi today shared an old video of him campaigning for his first election battle in the city, saying Rajkot will always have a special place in my heart.
On this day in 2002, PM Modi became a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly for the first time by winning his first election from Rajkot. He had taken oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat only last October and to continue in office he was required to become a member of the Legislative Assembly within six months. This Rajkot by-election gave him a chance.
The throwback video was shared by Modi Archive, a Twitter handle that chronicles the Prime Minister’s life journey through archival photographs, videos and newspaper clips.

Sharing this, PM Modi said, “Rajkot will always have a special place in my heart. It was the people of this city who trusted me and gave me my first electoral victory. Since then, I have always worked. ” To do justice to the aspirations of the public.”
He also told that it is a ‘happy coincidence’ that he is in Gujarat for two days, during which he will have a program in Rajkot. The Prime Minister said, from here five AIIMS will be dedicated to the nation.
The video is a collection of clips and images of him filing his nomination, campaigning and giving speeches in Rajkot.
