Video: US man stabs mother more than 70 times because she ‘upset him’

A 21-year-old Florida man allegedly murdered his mother by stabbing her more than 70 times because she “upset him,” police said.

University of Florida pre-med student Emanuel “Manny” Espinoza came to Frostproof’s mother “under the pretense of visiting her,” according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. at home.

A doorbell camera captured Espinoza carrying a knife before the attack. As he approached his home, he was wearing jeans and black sunglasses and listening to Jay Z and Kanye West’s “No Church In the Wild.” As soon as his mother opened the door, he “rushed in and started stabbing” her.

Sheriff Judd said at a news conference, “He knocked on the front door and when the mom opened the front door, he started stabbing her. She ran away from him and she was on the phone with a family member and then… … He stabbed her until she fell to the ground dead.”

According to the sheriff, Espinoza allegedly inflicted more than 70 stab wounds and continued to attack his mother as she lay on the ground.

After the murder, Espinosa called 911 and confessed to the crime. Despite claiming to “really love” his mother, he allegedly told authorities that she “annoyed him since he was a kid.”

The victim, an elementary school teacher, reportedly had no history of conflict with his son, police said.

Sheriff Judd revealed another disturbing detail: “Judd said Espinoza stabbed his mother in the chest and abdomen, which is where he learned from medical school that it was most effective.”

He noted that Espinosa has no history of mental illness or substance abuse. In fact, he was reportedly a high school valedictorian and was described by others as “very smart.”

Espinosa was charged with first-degree murder. The investigation into the murder is ongoing.
