A desperate need for money, a seven-year affair and a woman perched on an electric pole – high-voltage drama played out in a small town in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday in a video that has now gone viral on social media.

In Gorakhpur’s Piplachi, a 34-year-old mother of three climbed up an electric pole after her husband discovered her extramarital affair. The woman allegedly had a relationship with a man from a neighboring village. The relationship was concealed for seven years but was discovered by the woman’s worker husband Ram Govind.

After the discovery, an argument broke out between the couple and the woman asked another man to move into her home and help with the finances of the house. Ram Govind strongly opposed the idea and stormed out of the house.

The woman’s climb up the pole was captured on video and circulated online, shocking onlookers who asked her to climb down. A group of people watched in horror as the woman sat perilously on a power pole, tied up with high-voltage wires.

The local government responded quickly to the crisis and sent police and power department staff to the scene. The electricity supply was cut off as a precaution and efforts began to pull the woman from her dangerous position. After patient negotiations, the authorities successfully persuaded the woman to return to her origins.
