The Boeing 757-200 aircraft, with 165 passengers on board, landed safely in Denver.

A United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Boston was diverted to Denver after passengers discovered damage to the plane’s wing. cbs news the report said. The incident occurred on Monday when a passenger, Kevin Clark, first noticed the right wing of the plane was separated.

“Suddenly I heard an incredible metallic vibration that I had never heard before. I woke up and was like, what is that?” Mr Clark said. He then opened the curtains and took video of the damage. After a while, a pilot walked down the aisle, looked out the window, and returned to the cockpit.

“A few minutes later he announced over the PA system that we had some damage to the slats under our wings,” Mr Clark said. The plane then diverted to Denver and landed successfully.

The passenger’s wife shared the video on Facebook and wrote: “My husband Kevin’s United flight from San Francisco to Boston just made an emergency landing in Denver. The wing broke mid-air! Thanks God, everyone is safe.” Video showed a broken plane wing with a dark blue tip landing on the runway.

Another passenger also shared a photo of the wing mid-flight on Reddit. The photo shows the plane’s wing in mid-air, with parts of the slats notched. He wrote: “Sitting on the wing, the noise after reaching altitude was much louder than normal. I opened the window and saw the wing looking like this. How panicked should I be?
