On May 9, a Boeing 737 aircraft skidded off the runway during takeoff at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Senegal and caught fire. Ten people, including a pilot, were injured in the accident.

The incident occurred at 1:14 am local time on May 9 at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Senegal.

The plane, operated by local airline Transair, was en route from Dakar, Senegal to Bamako, Mali. Air Senegal flight HC301 was carrying 79 passengers, two pilots and four cabin crew members.

A horrifying video shows flames on one side of the plane. Passengers can be seen exiting the emergency slide, while others are screaming in the background.

Emergency services arrived and provided medical aid to the injured.

The company has faced scrutiny over other incidents in recent months. The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation into Boeing after reports of fraudulent plane inspections.

When contacted for comment, Boeing said airlines are responsible for the maintenance of their planes, which can remain in service for 30-40 years. The company referred further questions to the airline.
