Video: Horse stranded for days on rooftop in Brazil floods, rescued

By | Published | No Comments

Emergency responders rescued a horse stranded for days on a rooftop in southern Brazil amid severe floods, with the death toll now at 107.

The animal, affectionately named ‘Caramelo’ on social media, precariously balanced on two narrow strips of slippery asbestos in Canoas, a city within the heavily impacted Porto Alegre metropolitan area. Much of the state remains cut off by floodwaters.

The rescuers managed to manoeuvre the horse onto a Zodiac inflatable boat on Thursday, offering a rare beacon of hope. With 136 individuals still unaccounted for and over 165,000 displaced from inundated homes, ongoing rescue efforts by boats and helicopters continue amidst the devastation.
