Lloyd Poole has been hospitalized since December 28 after he was allegedly assaulted by 40-year-old Ryan Turner in Wixom, Michigan, after the older man asked him to slow down as he drove past his neighbor.

At around 5.30pm on December 28, Wixham Police received reports of an elderly man lying unconscious on the road. Poole reportedly walked down the driveway to the road and confronted Turner, saying he was driving too fast in the neighborhood.
Turner later told police he felt threatened during the encounter and struck Poole with a closed fist. The punch caused Poole to fall backward, hit his head on the road and lose consciousness, police said. Turner then allegedly drove away, leaving Poole on the street.
“One punch hit him in the side of the head,” Shaw said. “My dad fell down, never got up, never moved, and the DoorDash driver got back in the car and drove away.”
Poole was taken to hospital with eye injuries and serious head injuries. Shaw said her father has not yet regained consciousness.
“He wasn’t responding. He couldn’t talk. He wasn’t awake,” she said. “We don’t know when he will leave his hospital bed. It may never happen.”

DoorDash confirmed Turner had been removed from the platform but declined to say whether his previous conviction violated company security protocols.

Poole’s family is pushing to change Turner’s bail conditions to keep him away from Poole’s home, which they say is just a five-minute walk from Turner’s residence.
