Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma are very old fashioned. Both were part of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup winning team. Yuvraj Singh was at the peak of his career at that time, while Rohit Sharma was just starting. What happened next was a great bond. Rohit always respected Yuvraj. He also narrated an interesting anecdote on Kapil Sharma Show. “When I first came to the team, I boarded the team bus and unfortunately sat on his seat. It became a problem. I didn’t know that players have their favorite seats. So, Yuvi Pa Yuvi Pa Being that he just kept eye contact with me and signaled me to move, RP Singh was sitting behind me and told me that it was Yuvraj’s seat, I thought I had missed the name written on the seat,” Rohit smiled. “He loved scaring people,” he recalled, making the audience laugh. “He loved scaring us.”

Yuvraj has witnessed Rohit’s journey since the 37-year-old made his debut for the Indian team as a teenager in 2007. Recalling his first impression of the flamboyant opening batsman, Yuvraj joked: “Very bad English.”

“Very funny guy. From the streets of Borivali (Mumbai), we always tease him. But a great guy at heart,” he told ICC.

Yuvraj’s final season as an active cricketer came under the captaincy of Rohit at MI. Yuvraj said, “No matter how much success he has got, he has never changed as a person. That’s the beauty of Rohit Sharma. Fun-loving, always having fun with people, a great leader on the field and One of my closest friends from cricket.” Said. “I really want to see Rohit Sharma with the World Cup trophy and a World Cup medal. He really deserves it.”

Apart from reaching the final of the 50-over World Cup and WTC Final last year, India also made it to the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup under Rohit’s captaincy.

The opening batsman is set to lead the ‘Men in Blue’ once again in the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and USA starting from June 2.

T20 World Cup 2024 ambassador Yuvraj said, “(Rohit’s presence) is going to be very important. I think we need a really good captain, a sensible captain who takes good decisions under pressure. And he is Takes decisions.” , told the ICC.

India’s ICC title quest extended to 10 years after losing to Australia in the World Cup 2023 final, with the last win coming in the 2013 Champions Trophy under Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Yuvraj feels that India needs someone with Rohit’s expertise to lead the Indian team in this prestigious event.

“He was the captain when we lost the (Cricket World Cup) 50-over final (in 2023). As captain, he has won five IPL trophies. I think we need someone like him to captain India.”
