Gandhinagar, Nov 7 (IANS) A grand celebration was organized in different parts of Gujarat on Friday to mark the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel led the statewide celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary, while several programs were organized across the state, where people not only sang the national anthem but also took an oath to adopt swadeshi goods.
A grand program was organized in the Gujarat Assembly, which was attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Assembly Speaker Shankar Bhai Chaudhary and other senior dignitaries.
Collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ and collective recitation of the pledge to adopt Swadeshi was done in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly complex.
After the Vande Mataram song, a collective oath was taken to make Swadeshi a part of daily life and adopt Swadeshi items in daily life.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel described ‘Vande Mataram’ as the echo of the soul of India and the sacred sound of patriotism which awakens infinite energy, faith and determination in the heart of every Indian.
He also urged all the people of the state to move forward towards building a self-reliant India by strengthening the indigenous model.
The national anthem was sung in unison by employees and officials at the District Panchayat, Municipality and Municipal Corporation levels also.
A flag hoisting ceremony was also held at the 176th BSF Battalion in Moti Cher, which saw the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Shanghvi.
Speaking to reporters, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi said, “Hearty greetings to all citizens of the country on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, people across the country are coming together to sing the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ to celebrate this historical milestone.”
