Vaishno Devi Yatra is suspended again due to bad weather in Jammu

Due to bad weather conditions in Jammu, Vaishno Devi Yatra was suspended on Monday, October 6.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board announced on 3 October that the journey will be suspended from October 5 to 7 due to adverse weather conditions in the region.

The Meteorological Department of India (IMD) issued an advisor stating that the region was expected to witness bad weather and advised to be vigilant.

The board said in a post on X (East Twitter), “Vaishno Devi Yatra will be suspended from 5 to 7 October in view of a bad weather advisor issued by the Meteorological Department of India (IMD).”

It said that the yatra will start again on October 8 and advised the pilgrims to be updated about the information through official channels.

The board’s decision is seen as a precautionary action, which is seen as a precautionary action to prevent any loss of life due to possible natural disasters such as landslides, cloudbursts and floods in the region.

The journey was first suspended on 26 August, when a landslide occurred on the trekking track in the temple, killing 34 people and injured 20 people.

The Vaishno Devi Yatra was suspended for 22 days and resumed on 17 September.

However, Vaishno Devi saw a smooth operation during the Navratri festivals.

According to news agency PTI, more than 1.70 lakh pilgrims had reported to visit the temple during festivals.
