Devprayag, 18 September (IANS) Garhwal BJP MP Anil Baluni survived a landslide on the Badrinath National Highway near Devprayg, when heavy rubble suddenly swept away his convoy during his journey to inspect disaster-hit areas.
The incident occurred when Baluni Chamoli and Rudraprayag were in the way of Rishikesh after visiting the affected areas.
While traveling back, he stopped after noticeing a landslide. He got out of his vehicle and urged others that when within moments, a large part of the mountain gave way, even forced the MP to run back for nervousness and safety.
Sharing the horrific experience on X, the Garhwal MP wrote, “This year serious cloudbukes and landslides in Uttarakhand have given up so many deep wounds that it will take them a long time to heal. Yesterday evening, I am sharing a terrible view of a landslide in the disaster-affected area.
He said, “I pray for safe life, good health and prosperity of all people. In this hour of disaster, I appreciate the dedication of all officers, NDRF-SDRF personnel, administration, and workers, and clean the debris from the streets even in challenging circumstances.”
In a video of the incident, a large part of the mountain collapses right in front of the Baluni convoy, which crashes rocks and debris. The MP and their team can be seen running back quickly to avoid a large tragedy.
Uttarakhand is facing a series of monsoon, with this monsoon, torrential rainfall and frequent cloudbers causes extensive damage, landslides and loss of life in many districts.
Meanwhile, a total of 10 people have been reported missing in the form of heavy debris in the Kuntari Lagfali area of Nanda Nagar and Dhurma after CloudBust on Thursday.
Teams from SDRF, NDRF, and Public Works Department have been deployed, in which JCB machines and other equipment are pressed into service to clean debris and assistance efforts.
