The Indian Army has deployed 150 personnel, under the leadership of Colonel Harshvardhan, 14 Rajrif Commanding Officer Colonel Harshvardhan, in rescue and relief operations between a Madslide in Harsil in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand.
Army tracker dogs, drones and economy equipment have been deployed from Tuesday to provide withdrawal and necessary supply.
Sharing an X post, the Surya Command or the Central Command of the Indian Army wrote, “Colonel Harshvardhan, 14 Rajrif’s Commanding Officer, personally are leading 150 personnel in significant rescue and relief operations since 5 August 25 (AN). Inputs have been received from the CO, assuring the citizens of the army to save all the remaining people.”
The X Post said, “Army trackers along with dogs, drones, logistic drones, economy equipment, etc., have been taken forward to complement the resources in Harsil to additional army pillars,” X post said.
Army and Air Force helicopters are helping to provide necessary supply and medicines.
The Central Command said, “Army and Air Force helicopters are also being coordinated for the extraction of necessary supply, medicines and maroon. Meanwhile, the residents have been taken into high reach due to the water level due to continuous rains,” the Central Command said.
Cloudberst-trigger flash floods in Uttarkashi district wreaked havoc on Tuesday, fearing the disasters of many people, removing houses, shops and roads.
Two cloudbers, one in Dharli and the other in a dry top area, became the cause of widespread destruction, with the brunt of Dharli. Allegedly, the region was also suffering from mudslides and flash floods.
Rescue and relief efforts are underway under the leadership of the Indian Army, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). According to Uttarakhand government officials, more than 130 people have been rescued so far. The State Emergency Operations Center is in constant contact with the District Magistrate and SSP.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Uttarkashi, which predicts heavy rainfall from a liberal with a mild storm.
Meanwhile, there is a red alert in Tehri Garhwal, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Nainital, Dehradun, Uddham Singh Nagar, Champawat, Almora, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. (Ani)
