New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the grand lighting of 1.51 crore lamps across the state, including a record 26 lakh lamps in Ayodhya Dham, represents India’s collective spiritual resolve.
He was speaking at the coronation ceremony of Lord Ram held at Ramkatha Park, where he also honored the revered saints associated with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
Describing Deepotsav as a living symbol of the patience of Sanatan Dharma through five centuries of struggle, the Chief Minister said, “In Ayodhya, there is dignity in every particle, every lamp radiates compassion, and Lord Shri Ram resides in every heart.”
Recalling that the Deepotsav had started in 2017 with only 1.71 lakh lamps, CM Yogi said the increase in the number of lamps to over 26 lakh lamps today reflects the national awakening of faith and pride. He said Ayodhya, which was once named Faizabad and stripped of its identity, has now regained its status as the spiritual capital of India and a global hub of religious tourism.
Without naming political rivals, he criticized those who had once called Lord Ram a myth and tried to hamper the Ram temple movement.
“They opened fire and we are lighting lamps. They locked the temple and today Lord Ram is seated in his divine abode,” he said.
CM Yogi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi fulfilled a historic resolution by laying the foundation of the temple and leading the consecration of the temple earlier this year.
He said, “This is the victory of devotion and the fulfillment of the promises made by generations of Ram devotees.”
Highlighting the development, he said Ayodhya now sees six to ten crore devotees annually and is being built as a clean, modern, cultural and emotional city that embodies the ideal of Ram Rajya – where no one will remain poor, unhappy or deprived.
“Ayodhya today is both a symbol of spiritual grandeur and a model of a new, self-confident India,” he said.
