Useney Boucard retired from Pro Tennis after National Bank Open

Montreal’s Uzoni Boucherd is retiring from professional tennis after the National Bank was open in his hometown later this month, announced by Tennis Canada.

“Jinn” received a wild card to compete in the main draw in the tournament, which would be his final.

“You will find out when it’s time. For me, now it’s all where it began: Montreal,” Bouchide as a child, wrote on Instagram along with his own photos in court.

The 31 -year -old came into the limelight in 2014 when he became the first Canadian tennis player in any category in any category to crack the top five in the world.

In May the same year, he won his first and only WTA singles title in Nurnberg, Germany. He has also won a doubles title.

Westmount native reached the semi -finals of two Grand Slam tournaments, Australian Open and French Open before becoming the first Canadian singles player to reach the final in Wimbledon.

In 2023, Bouchide helped Canada win the Billy Jean King Cup – for the first time in Canadian history – Leyla Annie Fernandez, Rebecca Marino, Marina Stackusic and Gabriella Dabrovski.

She puts her tennis racket down after she maintains a 299 wins as a professional and a winning record of 228 defeats, and took the total earnings to 7 million US dollars.

In recent years, Bouchide has played in Major League pickle.

The National Bank Open will be held from 26 July to 7 August at Montreal’s IGA Stadium.

“We are very honored that Jinn decided to retire in his home tournament in Montreal and we are ready to celebrate our career and celebrate a permanent heritage with our fans,” said Valerie Tetrilt, director of NBO tournament. “She has been one of the most important figures in our game history in Canada and a trailblazer who redefined Canada’s tennis.

“We are proud of what he has done as a player and role model, and we can’t wait to see him in action for the last time in IGA Stadium in this summer.”
