US Vice President, Security Advisor is expected to visit India from 21 April

Arun Jain, 12/04/2025

New Delhi:

US vice -president JD Vance and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz is expected to be in New Delhi on 21 April, which reflects Washington’s focus on his relations with India amid concerns around the world on Tariff’s policy.

Both US vice -president and national security advisors are likely to attend separate visits to India from 21 April, top sources told PTI on Friday night.

Vance’s journey is likely to exceed a private journey, even if it will have an official components. Sources said Waltz’s visit would be a purely commercial visit as it will hold extensive talks with his Indian negotiaters on several major issues including security in India.

Both Vance and Waltz are expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi before traveling to Saudi Arabia for a two -day visit from 22 April.

Venne and Waltz trips are against the background of Trump’s policy on tariffs, causing large -scale trade disruption and global economic recession.

On Wednesday, Trump announced a 90-day stagnation on its widespread tariffs on all countries except China, as nations around the world were under the influence of earthquake action.

Sources said the US NSA is visiting India to unveil the initiative for cooperation in high technology, important minerals and export control areas.

Waltz, who is considered a voter of strong Indo-American relations, is ready to visit India from April 21 to April 23, he said.

Although the possibility of Vance is also paying a trip to India with Indian-American another woman Usha Vance and her children from 21 April, her travel duration is longer than Waltz.

It is learned that Vance and his family were planning to travel to Shimla, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Delhi.

American Vice President Vance and NSA Walts’ visits are taking place a few weeks after Tulsi Gabard, US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabard.

DNI held separate meetings with PM Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Dawal.

During his visit, Waltz is set to unveil cooperation under the India-US Trust (changing relations using strategic technology), which was declared last month after a conversation between PM Modi and President Trump.

Trust initiative mainly replaced the US-India initiative on the technology, or the ICET, which was launched during the Biden administration.

The ICET was launched by PM Modi and then US President Joe Biden in May 2022 with the aim of creating maximum cooperation between India and the US in the areas of critical technologies.

Last year, both sides had a fleet of transformative initiative to deepen India-US cooperation in semiconductor, important minerals, advanced telecommunications and defense places.

Waltz is expected to hold extensive talks with NSA Ajit Doval and is likely to meet PM Modi and Jaishankar, the above sources said.

The US President’s tariff quarrel has stopped the possibility of a global trade war.

After a conversation between Modi and Trump at Washington DC in February, both sides announced a plan to negotiate the first installment of BTA until the fall of 2025.
