Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI are investigating the robbery.

The FBI and LAPD are investigating one of the largest cash robberies in the city’s history after up to $30 million was stolen from a currency storage facility.according to cbs news, the break-in occurred on Easter Sunday at the Gardaworld factory in Sylmar, which processes and stores cash from businesses in the area. Somehow, the robbery went undiscovered until the next morning, and there was no sign of anything wrong on the outside of the safe.

according to cbs, the thieves entered the building and entered the vault, but did not trigger the alarm. Officials said few people knew the cash was being held at the facility, so they are investigating whether the group knew what was going on inside the facility.

“The Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI are conducting a joint investigation into an alleged burglary that occurred on the evening of Sunday, March 31, 2024. No additional information related to the incident is being released at this time,” the two agencies said in a joint statement expressed in.

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI are investigating the robbery. No arrests have been made and the manhunt for those responsible is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the previous largest cash robbery in Los Angeles occurred on September 12, 1997, when $18.9 million was stolen from the former Dunbar Armored Corps site on Mateo Street. The suspects were eventually captured.

In 2022, about $100 million worth of jewelry was also stolen from a truck off the Grapevine Highway. The case remains unsolved.
