It was a tumultuous day for a family in Uttar Pradesh’s Amishi when their long-lost son Pinku returned home after 22 years of asceticism and sought alms from his mother.

According to NDTV, Pinku disappeared from her home in Delhi when she was 11 years old after an argument with her parents. He recently returned to his village in Amethi.

Videos of his emotional reunion with his family were widely circulated on social media. The video shows Pinku dressed in traditional sadhu attire, playing a sarangi, a three-stringed traditional instrument, and singing melancholy tunes while asking for alms from his mother.

In 2002, 11-year-old Pinku disappeared from his home in Delhi after a disagreement with his parents over a game of marbles. In a rage, Pinku embarked on a journey that lasted two decades away from his family. the report said.

Last week, Pinku returned to the village of Karauli in Amisi for the upcoming ceremony to become a saint. The villagers immediately informed his parents, who still live in Delhi.

After learning the news, parents rushed there immediately. They recognized Pinku from the scars on his body. However, the family reunion did not last long. The boy ignored the pleas of his family and villagers, accepted his mother’s charity and left the village.

Pinku’s father claimed that his son’s sect was demanding Rs 11 lakh for his release.

Pinku, on the other hand, clarified that his visit was not due to family ties but was merely a religious ceremony.

He explained that according to their tradition, aspiring monks must complete a ritual and receive alms from their mothers.This symbolic move marked their formal transition to monastic life
