When the Mayawati government came to power in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati conferred important posts such as Assistant Director General Legal Orders to Subesh Kumar Singh. When the Yogi Adityanath government came to power, he was appointed Information Commissioner. On April 15, 2023, the government also included Subesh Singh in Prayagraj’s Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf Judicial committee formed over the murder case.

Subesh Kumar Singh’s teammate and friend and former DGP OP Singh wrote: Indeed, everything has a beginning and an end. But usually, after an active life, retirement does not mean shrinking, but rather the expansion of spiritual life and horizons. We (Subesh Singh) first met in Varanasi in 1986 when I was serving as an ASP and he was an ASP trainee attending police training with me.

We had countless meals at home, discussing everything from the intricacies of policing to life. That year marked the beginning of a bond that remains unbreakable even after decades and tenures and deepens with each passing year. Subesh’s advice has often been very helpful to me. In their friendship I found comfort and unity during difficult times. In Lucknow, we both gained long-term experience of life, not only our own lives but also the lives of others. Beyond his uniform, he is a warm-hearted friend who can be trusted to help anyone in need.

According to OP Singh, our relationship was more than just a professional relationship; This is too personal. In him I found a confidant with whom I could share the seriousness of work and the simple pleasures of life. His laughter, his unwavering support and his ever-reliable friendship will be sorely missed. May God rest in peace the soul of late IPS Subesh Kumar Singh. May the family have the strength to bear this unbearable loss.
