‘Unprofessional’: Franchises angry over foreign stars quitting IPL – report

Indian Premier League (IPL) teams are furious with several foreign cricketers opting out of the tournament citing personal reasons. The latest cricketer to withdraw from the tournament is England batsman Harry Brooke, who was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 crore before the new season. He is not the first player to withdraw from the IPL due to personal reasons, with Alex Hales, Jason Roy and Mitchell Starc also doing so in the past Have done this before.according to a report Comments Commentsthe IPL franchises are not happy with this development and they want the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to resolve the issue.

“Once players sign up for the auction, they should fulfill their commitments. Breaking commitments is unprofessional and BCCI should address the issue,” a team official said.

Delhi Capitals will now look for a replacement and the report states that the team feels that the sudden decision taken by the cricketer may disrupt the existing auction strategies of different teams.

Brooke said on Wednesday he has withdrawn from the upcoming Indian Premier League because he wants to be with his grieving family following the death of his grandmother.

Brooke’s grandmother died in February. “I can confirm that I have made the very difficult decision not to participate in the upcoming IPL,” Brooke said in a statement.

“I’m delighted to have been selected by Delhi Capitals and very much looking forward to joining you all. While I don’t think I need to share the personal reasons behind this decision, I know there will be a lot of people asking why. So I did want to share this.

“I lost my grandmother last month – she was a stone to me and I spent most of my childhood in her house; my approach to life and love of cricket was shaped by her and I have Shaped by my late grandfather,” the 25-year-old wrote.

Last year, in his debut IPL season, Brooke set the stage on fire with a 55-ball hundred against Kolkata Knight Riders, but ended up with a mediocre performance. All told, he scored just 190 runs in 11 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad after the team paid Rs 1,325 crore for his services.
