Ottawa – The union workers in the Canada Post are entering their last day to vote on the latest contract proposal of Crown Corporation.
Voting is scheduled for wrapping at 5 pm today, it is expected to be shared shortly after the results.
The proposal involves an increase of wages of about 13 percent in four years, but also connects part -time workers that the Canada Post has said that the postal service is necessary to preserve the service.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers have urged around 55,000 postal service workers who represent the proposal to reject the proposal.
If the workers reject the proposal, the Sangh says it will immediately contact the management and invite them to return to the bargaining table, but it says that further strike or lockout action can be taken to the government with the risk of interfering with the back-to-work law or binding arbitration order.
The vote opened on July 21 is being administered by the Canada Industrial Relations Board, which stepped into the labor dispute after the federal job minister Patty Hazdu.
The Sangh has said that a strong vote will not only reject the proposal, but will also protect the integrity of the bargaining process.
