Union House passes two bills to amend schedules of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha

The Union House on Tuesday passed two bills seeking to amend the list of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The Constitution (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Constitution (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024 were passed by the Upper House by voice vote.

The first bill seeks to amend the list of Scheduled Tribes in Andhra Pradesh, while the second bill seeks to amend the list of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Odisha. Both bills were piloted by Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda in the Upper House.
