The Center said that the UMED portal for Bangalore, 6 October (IANS) Waqf boards will be designed to support various languages in the appointed time.
An official said in a statement that the announcement was made during the one -day regional meeting held for the capacity building of Waqf boards and the Umeed portal.
The statement said that the Central Government is committed to modernizing the Waqf administration through the Ministry and unlocking the complete developmental capacity of Waqf properties for the benefit of minority communities.
The statement said that the WAQF boards of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana participated in the Southern Zonal Review meeting of UMED (Integrated WAQF management, empowerment, efficiency and development) portal.
The discussion focuses on ensuring efficient management, progress and ownership of WAQF properties through the UMED Central Portal. Since the UMED portal was launched in June 2025, WAQF boards across the country have been made mandatory to upload all WAQF property details within six months, it said.
Representatives of the WAQF board of the southern states said that they have already started the process and will intensify the work in the coming days, and various states requested that the portal be made available in regional languages, it has been said.
Positively responding, ministry officials said the portal would be designed to support various languages in the appointed time.
Officials said the UMED portal will be made more user friendly in the coming days. Additionally, the states of the southern region including Karnataka shared the progress of the activities of their respective WAQF boards.
The portal includes a three-level manufacturer-enemodak system to ensure transparency, accuracy and accountability in data entry and verification.
The statement said the program was organized as part of the efforts of the Ministry under the Integrated WAQF management, empowerment, efficiency and development Act, 2025, which came into force in April this year.
During the meeting, the Ministry sought a response from state officials and WAQF board representatives to streamline operations and improve coordination.
The statement said that participants were also encouraged to share their experiences and suggest measures to improve the implementation of the UMED Act, 2025.
