Ukraine can meet after Berlin, with Allied Zone of Control: Trump Envoy

The US Special Envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kelog has proposed a possible solution for the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. According to Kelog, Ukraine can be divided into areas of control, according to a report, similar to the post -World War Berlin. The Times of London,

He suggested that British and French soldiers may serve as a “assurance force” in western Ukraine, while the Russian army maintains control over the eastern regions that they have occupied. A demilitered zone and Ukrainian military will separate both forces. Kelog, while drawing similarities between its proposal and the division of Berlin after World War II, said, “You can almost feel that what happened to Berlin after World War II, when you had a Russian region, a French region and a British region, an American region.”

However, Kelog later clarified on social media that his comments were incorrectly presented, emphasizing that he was discussing a post-seizer flexibility force, supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, not dividing the country. He wrote, “I was talking about a post-seesfire flexibility force in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty. In the discussion of Partition, I was referring to areas or areas of responsibility for a friendly countries (without our soldiers). I was not referring to the division of Ukraine.”

Although President Volodmi Zelancesi strongly rejected any regional concessions for Russia and Ukraine, the Defense Secretary PT Hegaseth called it “unrealistic” for the ancestors of Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov has also said that Kremlin will not accept the peace army from any NATO country under any circumstances.

Meanwhile, another American Special Envoy, Steve Witcoff, held a four -hour meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, urged by President Trump to “move forward” on a ceasefire. No Ukrainian representatives were present in the meeting, despite Zelanceci’s repeated requests when they attended Ukraine’s talks.

The situation on the ground remains critical, Russia began a large -scale drone attack in Ukraine on Friday night, resulting in injuries and damage. Ukrainian officials reported that 56 of 88 drones were shot, while 24 more were redeemed using electronic war. Kiev Mayor Vitali Clichko said three people were injured in the capital as a result of the drone attacks, and another person was injured in the city of Kharkiv in the Northeast.

In this context, the proposal of kelogue holds significant importance. The possible use of DNipro river as a demarcation line within Ukraine after a ceasefire is a major aspect of the proposal. However, the details and implications of this idea are still not clear.

American support for new elections in Ukraine, as mentioned by Kelog, is also notable. The move can be seen as an attempt to bring Putin back to the conversation table, especially looking at the previous criticisms of Creedencials of Russian President’s Zelanceci. Trump has previously expressed disappointment with Putin’s continuous attacks on Zelansky, saying that he was “really angry” about it. Ultimately, the further route will depend on the ability of parties involved to find common land and to work towards mutually acceptable solutions.
