weather office has released many yellow weather warning – and an amber – for rain, which will cover various parts of the country on Monday and Tuesday.
amber warning for rain Covers most of South Wales, stretching from St David’s on the west coast to Chepstow in the east, to the shores of Llandovery in the north.

the weather office said: “Heavy rainfall is expected across parts of south and south-west Wales during Monday.
“Widespread rainfall of 50 to 80 mm is likely and in some places close to 100 mm. Given the recent wet weather and saturated ground, the potential for impacts is high.”
It said there was a possibility of flooding to homes and businesses, adding: “There is a possibility of fast flowing or deep flood waters, which could be life threatening.”
A yellow warning overlaps with the amber zone, although it extends further north to Lanretid Wales.
Yellow rain warnings are in place up and down the country. One includes large parts of north-west England, north Wales and the Midlands, as well as parts of Yorkshire. This is in effect from 6 pm on Saturday and will last till 11.59 pm on Monday.
Similarly, the South West – from Taunton to the Devon and Cornish coasts – is under a yellow warning until 11.59pm on Monday.
In Wales, a yellow warning for rain remains in place for Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Powys until 3pm on Monday, starting at 6pm on Sunday.
A warning has been issued for north-eastern England, around Darlington and County Durham, from 6am on Monday until 3am on Tuesday.
Yellow rain warnings will be in place for parts of south Wales and south-west England as well as the West Midlands from 10am to 11.59pm on Wednesday.
In relation to warnings, the Met Office says: “A number of severe weather warnings have been issued for rainfall as it continues throughout the weekend and into early next week. An amber warning for rainfall has been issued for south Wales and Cumbria where accumulations have been particularly notable, with potentially over 200mm of rainfall in 48 hours.
“More widely, totals of 40 to 70 mm are likely, with over 100 mm possible over higher ground in western Britain and up to 50 mm over higher ground in Northern Ireland.”
Jonathan Day, flood duty manager at the Environment Agency, said: “Significant impacts of surface water flooding are possible across parts of the north of England on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
“Significant impacts of river flooding are possible across parts of northern England on Sunday and Monday, with minor flooding impacts possible more widely across northern England over the weekend.
“Environment Agency teams are taking action to reduce the impact of flooding and support affected communities. We urge people not to drive through flood water – it is often deeper than it looks and just 30cm of flowing water is enough to float your car.”
