uefa have rejected suggestions for change in Champions LeagueThe group behind the controversial European Cup, despite confirming informal discussions with A22 Sports management super league Revival.
The European football governing body admitted that its secretary general, Theodore Theodoridis, had met Anas Lagarri, co-founder of A22 Sports Management, “on a few occasions in public”.
However, UEFA firmly stated reuters “These talks have yielded no formal results,” he said Thursday, adding: “We unequivocally confirm that there are no plans to change the format of the UEFA Champions League.”
Media reports had previously indicated that A22 were in exploratory talks to promote their “Unify League” concept.
The proposal envisions 96 clubs in four divisions, including promotion and demotion, and aims for official recognition by UEFA.

A22 have pitched their plan as a qualification-based, fan-centred alternative, promising free match streaming and better opportunities for smaller clubs.
The report said A22 chief executive Bernd Reichart and co-founder Anas Lagharri had sought to structure the proposal as a complement to the domestic league rather than a direct rival to UEFA’s competitions.
However, football bodies and national leagues have consistently opposed the idea, warning that it could weaken the European football pyramid.
Twelve major clubs initially signed up for the breakaway competition, which was supposed to guarantee them permanent membership, but nine quickly withdrew.
The concept was later revived by A22 when the European Court of Justice ruled in 2023 that UEFA’s restrictions on rival competitions could violate EU competition law.
