Mumbai, November 22 (IANS) Shiv Sena UBT president and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday accused BJP and RSS of spreading poison of language.
He said, “Now, what are the people of BJP doing? They are instigating linguistic regionalism. We do not demand that anyone be beaten over language.”
He was speaking on the occasion when a BJP leader joined Shiv Sena UBT. Dombivali BJP Yuva Morcha Vice President Yogendra Bhoir and his wife Twinkle Bhoir joined Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) party at their residence Matoshree on Saturday.
Citing a recent statement by an MLA from the Shinde faction that it does not matter if the mother (Marathi language) dies, the aunt (Hindi language) should live, he asked, “What else can you expect from such a person?”
He further said, “Now, Bhaiya Joshi of RSS also came to Ghatkopar and said that the mother tongue is Gujarati. This means that poison is being spread by BJP and RSS, and they are blaming us.”
Thackeray said it was unfortunate that a 19-year-old college student from Kalyan committed suicide after allegedly facing severe mental distress, especially after the debate over the use of Hindi instead of Marathi.
He said, “An unfortunate incident happened the day before yesterday, which should not have happened. We do not demand that anyone be beaten up over language.”
Thackeray said that amid the ongoing local body elections and ahead of the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, many people are returning to the Shiv Sena UBT.
“In short, everyone is slowly realizing how hypocritical the BJP and the traitors (Shinde faction) are. But this fight is not easy. Therefore, you (workers) should now keep your eyes open and observe everywhere. Bharatiya Janata Party is a party which plans and hatches conspiracies,” he alleged.
He claimed, “Just as BJP broke parties, now they are trying to break families too.”
Stepping up his attack on the BJP, Thackeray said, “BJP’s Hindutva bubble has burst. The killing of the Sadhu in Palghar was an unfortunate incident. No one supports or will support that incident. When that incident happened, the BJP included in its party the very person whom they had accused.”
He said, “The BJP thought that by including him in the party, his sin would be hidden. However, the sin was not hidden, it came out in the open. After that, the BJP hastily banned his entry into the party, which means that the BJP’s hypocrisy regarding Hindutva has been exposed.”
