The White House said on Tuesday that Hamas’s response to a proposed ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza during talks in Cairo has so far been “less than encouraging.”
“The public statements we’ve seen from Hamas are not encouraging,” national security adviser Jake Sullivan said, but he added that mediator Qatar had not yet received a final response from the group.
