The U.S. military said on Friday it had carried out a deadly attack on a ship accused of drug trafficking in the East Pacific Oceanthe first known attack since the raid captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro earlier this month.

U.S. Southern Command said on social media that the ship was “participated in a drug trafficking operation” and that the attack left two people dead and one survivor. The Coast Guard has been notified to launch a search and rescue operation for the man, the statement said.
