Two women have died after being drawn from water in Eri National Park, also known as Snodonia, North Wales Police Said.
The authorities were called to report that a woman was pulled from a pool close to the Watkin Path in Nant Ginent, Gwinand, while another woman was still in water.
The Lalberbis Mountain Rescue Team was sent to the area with North Wales Police, Air Ambulance and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter.
The other woman was pulled from water, however, both were declared dead on the spot despite all the best efforts of all, the force said.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Gibson of North Wales Police said: “Both our thoughts and sympathy remain with the families and friends of women.
“An investigation is going on to establish what has now been done. We are appealing to anyone who is running in or around the Watkin Path area between 6 am and 9 pm last night, urge them to contact us through the website or quote reference number 25000480868 by referring to 101 or referring to 101.”
