Two more blackbucks died at Kittur Rani Chennamma Zoo, taking the total number of deaths in the last four days to 30, zoo sources said on Monday, November 17.
The population of black bucks in the zoo has declined from 38 to only eight.
According to sources, eight black bucks died on Thursday, followed by 20 more black bucks on Saturday.
Two more black bucks died on Sunday.
Zoo officials are investigating whether the animals died due to bacterial infection or sudden change in weather.
“We have sent the viscera sample to Bengaluru’s Bannerghatta Zoological Park authorities to find out the cause of death,” a zoo official told reporters.
