Two more advertisements were banned on 'misleading' government funding claims

The UK advertisement watchdog has banned two more heat pump advertisements to confuse consumers about the installation cost.

Advertising standard authority (ASA) found that home heating supplier Aira and advertisement and EDF Energy Both pumps failed to include information about eligibility criteria for government funding available to install.

This comes a week after ASA banned an advertisement Octagonal energy For Consumers can be installed for low 500 as lower by claiming heat pumps,

Meta Ara for AR, seen in March, said: “Dig your gas boiler for an Aira heat pump today … £ 7,500 is available.”

ARARA said that the advertisement was only targeted at the owners of the house England And Scotland, where £ 7,500 government grants were available to replace their gas boilers with heat pumps.

The firm said that it does not believe that a consumer would explain the advertisement which means the grants were given automatically and unconditionally.

It said that social media advertisements did not allow for extensive explanation and claimed that consumers would be confused by phrases such as ‘eligibility criteria applied’.

He said, in practice, almost all his customers who had replaced a gas boiler in their home with a heat pump were eligible for £ 7,500.

However, the ASA stated that the advertisement implied that the consumers would automatically be eligible to receive a government grant of £ 7,500, and did not clarify that funds for a heat pump were subject to eligibility.

The EDF stated that the advertisement is connected to one of the three pages, where all relevant information about the government’s eligibility criteria was clarified.

Again, the ASA said that the advertisement did not clarify that government funds for the heat pump were subject to eligibility.

The ASA said about both advertisements: “We admitted that it was the material that should have been included. Because the advertisement had abandoned physical information, we concluded that it was likely to be misled.”

Last week, the ASA asked the octopus to ensure that the advertisement of the price claims for heat pump installation includes all physical information, including an explanation of any government grant included in the advertised price and the existence of eligibility norms.
