A few hours later, Makélélé shared a statement on his Instagram, writing that he would not be attending the event “due to unexpected personal reasons”.

Shortly after Harfouch’s post, Miss Universe officials Posted a statement on his Instagram account explaining his comments and explaining how the decision process works.

“The Miss Universe Organization strongly clarifies that no surprise jury has been created, no external group has been authorized to evaluate delegates or select finalists, and all pageant evaluations continue to follow established, transparent and supervised MUO protocols,” the statement said.
