Indore, 23 September (IANS) two persons died and six others were injured in a tragic road accident in Umran Chowki area of the district of Madhya Pradesh.
On Monday evening, a pickup truck takes the agricultural laborers returning from soybean harvesting, overturned near Mohanpura Pulia at the turn of Mohanpur (Umarban), resulting in two persons killed and several others.
Allegedly, overloaded with agricultural laborers of vehicles, Jamla and Latmali villages, lost control and fell from the bridge while traveling from Toki to Urban.
“The deceased has been identified as Govind (35), Krishna (19) – both the residents of Jamla. Govind died during treatment at Umarban Hospital, while Krishna succumbed due to his injuries at the scene,” Vijay Dabur, Additional Superintendent of Police, Dhar district told.
20 people suffered injuries. Among the seriously injured people are Shyambai (50), Durga (20), and all residents of Kunwar Singh – Latmali. From Jamla village, Anil (15), Galsingh (35), and injured including Ramesh (37), son of Nanuram Pachaya. The official said that many other people including women and children were injured separately.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of anarchy as the vehicle was overturned, motivating the locals to flee the site and transport the injured in Umarban and Manwar hospitals using private vehicles and 108 ambulances.
After preliminary treatment, six seriously injured persons were sent to Dhar and Dhamnod district hospitals for further care.
The accident has put a pole on the region, in which mourning is spreading through the affected villages. The families of the deceased are inconsistent, and the community is struggling with sudden damage.
Police immediately reached the spot, seized the pickup truck, and registered a case. The ASP said, “An investigation is going on to determine the cause of the accident, the authorities investigated whether overloading or mechanical failure has contributed to the tragedy.”
